🛠 The problem

We were initially called out because the booster was continuously running which resulted in warm water coming out of the cold taps which also caused a pressure issue and low pressure faults.

🛠 Our diagnosis

We quickly identified the problem, isolating tye issue to the non return valve

🛠 Our short term solution

In almost all instances our clients require their water up and running asap…and for good reason.

With this in mind we were able to get the unit back up and operational just working on one pump so the residents had minimal disruption

🛠Our permanent solution

We ordered the parts immediately and returned the following week to carry out the necessary repairs which involved replacing both non return pump.

🙌 This will avoid the likelihood of the valve failing again in the future. Both pumps were turned back on and fully tested.

🛠 Our engineer even serviced the pumps during our visit to make sure the system is running perfectly.

PRIMARY SCHOOL IN THE MIDLANDS

The quick response and resolution to an issue allowed a primary school to remain open this week

🛠 The problem

The premises officer notice he had a fault light and no heating at the school and so he was quickly on the phone to our office.

▪️Within 1 hour we arrived onsite to investigate and quickly identified there was an issue with the unit not having power. We traced the fault to be down to a blown fuse.

▪️Once this fuse was replaced we powered it up and tested. After further investigation we found pump No.1 had seized. We attempted to strip the pump and free it, but sadly it wouldn’t budge.

🛠 Our short term solution

Luckily this was a twin unit we so disconnected the faulty pump and altered the parameters to make it a single pump unit.

▪️Carried out a full reset and test. Unit now fully operational and faults cleared. This allowed us to get the heating back on and school warming up before it caused any bigger issues or closed to the school.

🛠 The permanent solution

A new pump is now on order and a return visit will follow to get the unit back to it full operation!

BOOSTER REPLACEMENT AT LEICESTER RACECOURSE

Solving problems and making sure our clients pumps are running perfectly is what we do 7 days a week!

One of our engineers was called out to a racecourse due to the old controls failing on a booster. It was vital a solution was found as the booster set served the hot and cold water in the jockey and hospitality area.

Both inverters are now obsolete and controls dated, which meant we were unable to find a quick fix…however, we loaned and fitted the client with a temporary inverter to get their water supply back on whilst we found a permanent solution.

The fix…

Our engineer measured up and built a booster which would best serve what they required on site. On our return we supplied and fitted the new boosters.

Full mechanical and electrical works were carried out by our engineer.

BESPOKE SOLUTIONS FOR A COOKERY SCHOOL

Let’s tell you all about what we did on this job at a cookery training school.

We first went to site to inspect the booster set having been told by the client that they were having issues, it was soon decided that the booster needed upgrading

Our engineer returned to site to spec and measure a booster set so we could build a bespoke solution to fit straight in…which will maximize downtime to the school

The day of the job

One of the challenges is that this school was open 7 days a week and we needed to keep downtime at a minimum

Arrived on site, our engineer prepared everything before starting the installation. From start to finish this booster took 2 hours from the water being off to being back on

Our engineer built a booster to fit the exact measurements our engineer had taken (as mentioned above)

Removed old booster from site and installed new booster set

All tested and commissioned by our engineers with no issues

CALL OUT TO A REMOTE RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY

Today we want to share another problem our team have solved…

One of our engineers has been working at a beautiful cottage out in the sticks.

The problem this homeowner previously had being at such a remote location…was with very poor mains water running into the property.

To solve this they had a tank and booster fitted.

Where our team come in…

We have been called out to replace a submersible pump as the bearings went on the old one. Our engineer soon sorted the issue, tested it all was running perfectly once again.

ANNUAL SERVICE

A great example where an annual service can help identify early issues that could lead to future faults.

After an annual service for one of our clients, our engineer quickly identified that one of the pumps was making an excessive amount of noise compared to what it should be if functioning correctly.

Upon inspection it was found to be the motor/pump bearings. An order for the top and bottom bearings was placed and we arranged to return to resolve this issue.

Here is what our engineer did on his return:

Isolated the pump electrically and mechanically for safety.

Removed the motor and stripped down to gain access to the shaft.

Using our bearing pullers he removed both top/bottom (also known as wet and dry end bearings)

He then supplied and fitted the new bearings and carried out a full reassemble of the pump.

On completion, our engineer tested the pump which was now as quiet as a mouse. Perfect! The booster was left switched on, working and open to the system.

Another happy and satisfied customer whose seen the true value of having a service completed on their pumps.

CALL OUT TO A HOT PLANT ROOM

Another job completed where our team went above and beyond for our client!

As soon as our engineer arrived on site it became apparent that the plant room was extremely hot.

Upon further inspection we identified in part that this was due to no lagging on pipework…But this wasn’t the only cause to the problem.

It was clear that the equipment had not been serviced in some time, therefore the pump had been continuously running and heating water, which was a factor in generating this excessive heat in the pipes.

Once we identified the problem our engineer soon fixed the booster set.

But this wasn’t all we did on this job, we chlorinated the tank and system.

Once this task was completed we took a water sample…now let’s be clear…this isn’t something every company does but this is something we do….because it good practice!

Upon taking a water sample, our engineer took the time to explain the work we completed to the client, making recommendations to avoid future issues which could, in the worst case scenario…lead to legionella and other water related issues.

We think it’s touches like this, additional advice and support… that stand us apart from other pump companies.

CALL OUT TO A CITY CENTRE RETAIL OUTLET

A busy city centre retail outlet required the support of our team after suffering from a water leak at their property.

We were contacted after a leak was identified in the customers basement which was caused by ground water.

Our client notified us that the basement was partly used for storage for stock of their confectionary which made it vital we found a solution quickly.

After a few phone calls and photos were exchanged, we managed to identify a pump which didn’t seem to be operating. We were soon on site to carry out a full inspection and test the pump in order to diagnose the fault.

Our engineer identified that the pump didn’t respond and had completely failed. We assisted with our own sump pumps to help the customer with removing and the excess water.

Throughout our visit we discussed the options with the client, who opted for a new pump and installation.

COMMISSION A COLD WATER BOOSTER SET

Our engineers have been out to commission a cold water booster set and heating pumps at a new modern apartment block in Loughborough.

Here is a rundown on the process we completed for this job

A full onsite commission and certification for the cold water booster set and the heating pumps.

We complete all tests and diagnostics on the unit to make sure it passes a thorough inspection.

Using the Grundfos go app, we check over all parameters and settings.

Running then testing each pump and drive whilst performing a full operation and function test of the unit and all controls.

Once the work is complete we sign off the work and issue a very important certificate ready for handover.

This is a vital stage for our team to come in as the project is close to completion, this means the new occupants can move in.
