Lowara Booster Pump Replacement for School Water System in Bath

Lowara Booster Pump Replacement for School Water System in Bath

Lowara Booster Pump Replacement at School in Bath | NT Cloke Pumps & Water

When a booster pump fails in a school environment, a fast and effective response is essential to maintain reliable water supplies and minimise disruption to staff and students.

NT Cloke Pumps & Water recently attended a school in Bath following the failure of a single booster pump that was impacting the site’s water pressure and overall system performance.

To ensure the work caused as little disruption as possible, our engineers scheduled and completed the installation on a Saturday, allowing the school to continue normal operations during the week.

The Challenge

The existing booster pump had reached the end of its operational life and was no longer providing the performance required to maintain reliable water pressure across the site.

Without intervention, the failure had the potential to impact facilities throughout the school and create ongoing maintenance issues.

The client required a reliable replacement solution that would:

  • Restore consistent water pressure
  • Improve system efficiency
  • Reduce future maintenance concerns
  • Be installed with minimal disruption to school activities

Our Solution

Following inspection of the existing installation, our engineers supplied and installed a new Lowara inverter-driven booster pump system.

The new unit was selected to provide efficient, variable-speed operation, allowing the pump to respond to changing demand while reducing energy consumption and mechanical wear.

Pipework modifications were completed on site to accommodate the new installation, along with the addition of flexible connectors and a pressure vessel to support smooth system operation.

Once installed, the system was fully recommissioned and tested to ensure reliable performance.

Scope of Works

  • Removal of failed booster pump
  • Supply and installation of new Lowara inverter-driven pump
  • Pipework modifications and connections
  • Installation of flexible connectors
  • Installation of pressure vessel
  • Electrical connections and setup
  • System recommissioning
  • Operational testing and performance checks

The Results

The new booster system was successfully installed and commissioned within the planned maintenance window, allowing the school’s water supply to be restored quickly and efficiently.

The upgraded system now delivers improved performance, greater reliability and more efficient operation compared to the previous installation.

Project Outcomes

✔ Reliable water pressure restored across the site

✔ Improved energy efficiency through inverter control

✔ Smoother pump operation and reduced system stress

✔ Reduced wear on associated components

✔ Minimal disruption to school operations

✔ Fully tested and recommissioned installation

Why Inverter-Driven Booster Pumps Are Beneficial

Modern inverter-controlled pumps offer significant advantages over traditional fixed-speed systems.

By adjusting motor speed to match demand, they can:

  • Reduce energy consumption
  • Improve pressure stability
  • Extend equipment lifespan
  • Reduce mechanical wear
  • Lower operating costs
  • Deliver quieter operation

For schools, commercial buildings and public sector facilities, upgrading to an inverter-driven system can provide both performance and long-term cost benefits.
