The Challenge
NT Cloke Pumps & Water were called to a residential apartment block in Birmingham after one of the main booster pumps failed.
Booster systems are essential in multi-storey residential buildings, ensuring water pressure is maintained across all floors. With one of the primary pumps out of service, the building was at risk of reduced water pressure and potential disruption to residents.
Due to the size and weight of the pump — approximately 190kg — the replacement required careful planning, the correct lifting equipment, and experienced engineers to complete the job safely within the confined plant room environment.
Our Solution
Our engineers attended site to assess the booster system and confirm the cause of the failure. Once the issue was identified, a replacement pump was sourced and delivered to site.
The team safely removed the failed pump using appropriate lifting methods before installing the new unit into the existing booster system.
All pipework connections were aligned, secured and checked before the system was recommissioned and tested to ensure it was operating correctly.
The Result
The replacement pump was successfully installed and the booster system returned to full operation.
