The Challenge
NT Cloke Pumps & Water were contacted by Severn Trent to support with the upgrade of a failing booster set that had become critical to the site’s operation.
The existing system had reached the end of its service life and was no longer providing the reliability required for the process. The booster set plays a vital role in clearing mine water and supporting the wider system, acting as a key component in maintaining the site’s operational performance.
A secondary booster is used to keep pump chambers clean and protect pump seals, meaning the reliability of the system is essential to prevent operational issues and potential downtime.
Due to the importance of the process, the entire changeover needed to be completed within a strict 24-hour window.
Our Solution
Following a detailed site visit and system assessment, our team designed and built a brand-new bespoke booster set skid alongside our trusted pump suppliers.
The new system was built to match the operational requirements of the site while improving reliability and overall performance.
Our engineers then attended site to carry out the full installation, removing the old booster set and installing the newly designed system. Mechanical and electrical connections were completed before the system was fully commissioned and tested.
All works were delivered within the required timeframe to ensure the site’s process remained protected and fully operational.

The booster set upgrade was successfully completed within the 24-hour changeover window, restoring reliability to a critical system and ensuring the process remained protected.
