The Challenge

Our engineers were called to a student accommodation block in Birmingham following reports of a noisy pump within the booster system.
While the system was still operational, the increased noise was a clear indication that internal components were beginning to fail.

In high-occupancy buildings, even minor pump issues can escalate quickly. Left unresolved, bearing failure can lead to seized pumps, motor damage and unplanned loss of water supply — creating disruption for residents and facilities teams alike.

Our Solution

We attended site to carry out a full inspection of the affected pump.
Following strip-down, our engineers confirmed failure of both the drive-end and non-drive-end bearings.

Rather than recommending a full pump replacement, we carried out a targeted bearing replacement, carefully stripping the pump, replacing the failed components and rebuilding the unit to manufacturer standards.

Once reassembled, the pump was fully tested and recommissioned to ensure smooth, quiet and reliable operation.

The Result

The pump was successfully returned to service with noise eliminated and performance restored.
By intervening early, we were able to extend the life of the existing equipment and avoid unnecessary replacement costs.
